Easy go to foods:
For the oven cooked sweet potatoes: 425 degrees 45 minutes to an hour. Then turn off oven and leave in for another 30 minutes or more.
"hard boiled" baked eggs 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
Oven friend chicken: 400 degrees about 40 minutes
Roasted veggies 425 degrees - stir every 5-7 minutes
Hey Read!
This started out as a place to post my story time outlines, but we do that elsewhere now. So instead, it's random things I write about from time to time!

Primal Chocolate chip cookies from a post on Mark's Daily apple.
My laptop has died and I lost my recipes. I tried adding my one note to skydrive before it died all the way, but so far, I haven't been able to open them on Dave's computer.
I do have some things on pintrest but this one isn't pinable. I think.
I found this on Mark's daily apple.
Here it is:

Best Primal Cookies
Finally got this recipe tweaked to perfection!!! Primal cookies:
1 1/4 cup Almond Flour/Meal
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (optional)
1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon (essential!)
1 large Egg
1/4 cup Honey
1/4 cup chopped Pecans
Stir ALL ingredients together until smooth.
Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto a really well buttered/greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart from eachother. They really like to stick to the pan, so use parchment paper if you have it. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until desired doneness. Allow to cool before removing from pan.
These are soft, fluffy, and chewy around the edges. Also great with chocolate chips!
I make about nine 4-inch-diameter cookies per batch, and the nutrition information per cookie is:
Calories 119
Fat 8.3 g
Cholesterol 24 mg
Sodium 94 mg
Total Carbohydrate 10 g
Dietary Fiber 1 g
Sugars 8 g
Protein 3 g

Need break from cleaning
I'm not much of a housekeeper. I was teasing my Mom today that it was her fault - she should have forced me to clean my room more often! She laughed.
So, we have company coming on Sunday and the living room really needed to get a good go-over. That's what I was going to do Monday and Tuesday but I did about 5 minutes each day. This evening, I felt more motivated and I attacked the piles!
I tend to throw mail that I want to look at later into a pile and of course, later rarely comes, so I'm left with piles of papers to go through. The good thing about that is that a lot of the ads and coupons are past their dates or the articles are past my interest, so they're much easier to recycle!
So things are looking much better in here tonight.
Next comes the breakfast bar in the kitchen! Yikes! Maybe tomorrow, or Saturday....

Super Bowl Sunday
It's the Super Bowl today - my favorite part is the commercials. I'm not sure if I'll watch the game - I may go take a nice long bath and breathe in some nice humid warmth to help the cold.
Yes, I caught the cold. Dave and Nathaniel each had it - and half the people I work with too, so it's hard to say who to blame! But happily, I took Saturday as a sick day, called in sick for Sunday school music today and don't work again until Tuesday - so I should be feeling pretty good by then, don't you think?
My vacation is quickly approaching - it's really sneaking up on me. And on top of it, my work schedule is all goofy this week.
1.I'm doing a story time on Vashon Island on Tuesday (which is why I'm not working my usual Monday).
2.Then I work Wed including a Latino Night story time in the evening
3. A children's Librarian meeting in Issaquah on Thursday morning.
4. After Story time on Friday, my vacation begins - as Nathaniel and I head to Pullman.
(We're going to see Rachel perform in the Vagina Monologues at WSU on Saturday night.)
5. I don't go back to work until Feb 27th!!!! That's a 2-week vacation!!!! I'll be visiting my Mom in Tennessee for 10 of those days counting the flying days.
I'm really looking forward to this break.

Snow play!
Here's the snow man Dave and I built yesterday evening. Then we took a walk over to a neighborhood Mexican restaurant.
Today, my dentist appointment was canceled - we've had freezing rain and more snow. So far it's still below freezing so who knows what tomorrow has in store!

Snow Day!
The call came in before 8:00 am - Federal Way libraries are closed for the day! Whoo! Hoo!
We had already gotten up around 4:30 am to take Nathaniel to the airport - and after safely making it there and back, read for a while and then fell asleep again. But this was a welcome call - I now have the entire day to do whatever I want!
As a child growing up in Florida, we didn't get snow days. We did hurricane days. You can't go outside and play during a hurricane for some silly reason. We kids would be excited anyway - no school is always a good thing - even when I liked school.
I think I just enjoy a change in the expected from time to time. It makes me look at my day in a different way - it gives me a chance to think about what I'd like to do with the time. More times than not, the day fritters itself away, but even then, it's a different day. A gift to be accepted.
Enjoy your day!

Welcome Home Lynne and Thank you
Lynne Greenwald was to be released today from the Sea Tac Federal Prison at 10:00 am.
We were told to park in the prison parking lot - Visitor's slot - and walk up to the corner where we could gather on public property. I guess they frown on big groups of people hanging outside the prison to meet their friends and family.
I'd decided to bring my guitar since we might be standing around for an hour or more - so I had it and my music book, purse, camera, etc as I began to walk towards the corner. A guard standing in front of the prison asked "Are you with them?" pointing up towards the corner. I said "yes" and he told me I couldn't park in the lot. I told him that's where we were told to park and he said the lot was for official business only. I thought about arguing that this is official business, but being the wimp I am, I just asked where I could park. He motioned towards the road and said out there somewhere.
So I sheepishly walked to my car, loaded it up again and drove towards the corner. Somebody had already parked there, so I thought I'd give that a try - much more convenient really!
I got out and began to gripe to the group about the parking and the guard when I realized Lynne was right there! She had already been released! I was so stunned, I'm sure my mouth dropped open! She gave me a big hug! It was wonderful to see her.
I then found out they let her out about 9:30 am! Nobody was there yet to meet her. They released her with her brown paper bag of materials all by herself. She said she didn't mind at all. It was nice to be outside even on this cloudy morning.
Lynne and all those who are willing to go to jail for peace and justice are my heroes. And it's very easy to put them on a pedestal and make them somehow more than you and me so that it makes it easier to think "I could never do that" "I'm just a woman, a Mom" Lynne is a woman. Lynne is a Mom. And yet, she takes these steps. She's willing to be put in jail - in prison!
I don't know if I'll feel the call to take that risk some day. But Lynne shows me I can.
We prayed for Fr. Steve inside those same walls, the guards and the other prisoners. We sang "Study War no More" and it was lovely.
Added later tonight:
It turns out the nice little gathering on the corner "violated the terms of release" So Lynne had Marshalls come and rearrest her! She is spending the night in a different Federal facility tonight and will hopefully, get released tomorrow.
