Friday's theme: The Great Wellsville Balloon Rally.

It's really funny to do a search for storytime ideas and pull up a King County Library System's books to grow on kit! I should look in the notebook and steal, I mean borrow ideas from it more often.
That's where I found the Altoona books and I really like them! So Hooray for KCLS and the librarians who put together those kits.
Here are my ideas:

(An adaption of Fly Little Bird by Nancy Stewart)
Fly big balloon across the mountains,
Fly me out to the sea
We’ll fly way up high among the clouds
And then come home for tea.

Hot air balloon, oh so still
Won’t you fly up?
Yes I will!

In the Clouds – from Laurie Berkner's Buzz Buzz CD

We're going to use the big parachute to pretend we're flying in a hot air balloon! And the project is decorating a hot air balloon cut out.

And we'll introduce the 3rd week's "get a clue" letter
So far we have H and E!

The literacy corner: Wouldn’t it be fun to fly in a hot air balloon? You’re probably not going to do that in the next few days, but what if you went outside and watched the clouds go by? Tell stories about what you see and have your child tell you. This will develop Narrative Skills!
