Wow! These readings on Library 2.0 was very interesting, exciting and puzzling.
I love the idea of patrons (and employees) being able to add tags and reviews on materials. (I look at Amazon's very often when helping patrons select materials) This would be a great addition to the catalog.
What puzzles me is that even in this highly moving technological age, there are many of our patrons who are outside. They are the ones who are told by the potential employer "fill it out online" And then they come to us, saying I need to do this online. The person may have never been online, English may not be his/her first language and they may have children sitting alone in the children's section (or under the computer desk) needing attention.
How we help this techno-newbie while the person next to them is off in techno-heaven playing and working with things, I'm only beginning to understand.
We are here to serve all patrons.
I love being in on the newness of it all. But at times, I think it could be overwhelming.
But I'm hanging in there!
